Your Next Chapter: Step 2 — Finding Yourself

STEP 2 of a 5 STEP weekly transition series from LLECoach.com
Last time, we sat with Step 1: Feeling Stuck. If you tried the action plan — naming it, getting specific, noticing without judgment — you've already done the hardest part: you stopped avoiding the feeling and started listening to it.
So what now? Now comes the question underneath the question. Not "what should I do," but something quieter and a little more vulnerable: who am I, really — outside of the roles I play and the routines I've built?
This is Step 2: Finding Yourself
Why This Step Feels So Hard
Somewhere along the way, most of us become very good at being what everyone needs us to be — the reliable employee, the steady parent, the one who holds it together. Those roles aren't bad. They're often built on real love and real responsibility. But over time, it's easy to lose track of the person underneath all of them.
Finding yourself isn't about becoming someone new. It's about clearing away the noise long enough to hear the voice that's been there all along — yours.
Your Step 2 Action Plan
This step is about reconnection, not reinvention. Try these this week:
1. Ask who you were before. Before the job title, the relationship status, the responsibilities — who were you at 12, or 20? What did you love? What came naturally? Old versions of you often hold clues.
2. Notice what still lights you up. Pay attention this week to the small moments that make you feel most like yourself — a conversation, a task, a quiet hour. Write them down. Patterns will start to form.
3. Separate "should" from "want." For one day, notice every time you think "I should..." Ask yourself honestly: is this actually mine, or was it handed to me? You don't have to change anything yet — just notice the difference.
4. Get curious about your values, not just your goals. Instead of "what do I want to achieve," ask "what do I want to feel more of — freedom, connection, purpose, calm?" Values point you toward direction even when the destination isn't clear yet.
5. Give yourself real, unstructured time. A walk with no podcast. A morning with no to-do list. Some of the most honest self-discovery happens in the quiet, not the hustle.
Only You Know What's True Here
I won't pretend to have the answer to who you are — only you know that, and part of my role is simply helping you uncover it. This step can feel slow, even uncomfortable. That's normal. You're not lost. You're just finally listening.
Coming next in the series: Step 3 — Discovering What's Next, where curiosity takes the wheel and we start exploring real possibilities for your next chapter. Check back next week.
