What are your saboteurs? Taking control of the voices in your head.

If you are breathing, there's a good chance that you've experienced one of the 9 most common Saboteurs*. Your worst enemy. Those little voices in your head that cause you to either question your self-worth, or to behave, or not behave, in a way that often is not in your best interests. Do you beat yourself up mentally when you don't live up to your expected self? Do you ever feel as if your voice isn't being heard and simply don't speak up due to being afraid of what others might think or how others might react? Do you enter a "fight" mode when challenged or feel the need to always be right?
Being true to your authentic self isn't a skill that comes naturally. Many of us have events from our childhood or past relationships that if not dealt with in a healthy way will continue to build in our minds, creating a stronger negative hold onto lives situations, creating stress while interfering with personal growth and living a peaceful life. Undealt with past traumas - even the little ones - can take a hold on our relationships and thought processes and prevent us from achieving a level of trust in ourselves or others that block true authentic communication. Those little voices are trained muscles in our brain. Like other muscles, those saboteuring thoughts can be re-trained into productive healthy self-serving thoughts. Thoughts that can better serve our well-being and productivity. Creating less stress and healthier living. Now doesn't that sound good?
This month, I'm excited to begin an intensive 8-week PQ (Positive) Intelligence program presented by the author of PQ Intelligence, Shirzad Chamine*. This special coach grant program is designed to improve the coaching experience for clients. I was honored to be selected, with other coaches nationwide, to participate in exploring and taming our own personal saboteurs. The 8-week program allows coaches across the country to experience personal transformations of their own thus enhancing their ability to be the best coaches out there! Yep - Coaches are real people too :-). Participants will have the opportunity to learn from others within their pod who may be directly affected by different saboteurs. Coaches helping Coaches. Think of this as similar to those personality profile tests you may have taken in your job or school. PQ Intelligence explores the positive mental fitness of your mind. The personality of your thoughts.

Avoider - Focusing on the positive and pleasant in an extreme way. Avoiding difficult and unpleasant tasks and conflicts.
Hyper-Achiever - Dependent on constant performance and achievement for self-respect and self-validation.
Stickler - Perfectionism and a need for order and organization taken too far.
Hyper-Vigilant - Continuous intense anxiety about dangers and what could go wrong. Vigilance that can never rest.
Hyper-Rational - Intense and exclusive focus on the rational processing of everything, including relationships. Can be perceived as cold, distant & arrogant.
Victim - Emotional and temperamental to gain attention. Extreme focus on internal feelings. Martyr streak.
Restless - Restless constantly in search of great excitement. Rarely at peace. Always looking for the next best thing.
Pleaser - Indirectly tries to gain acceptance and affection by helping, pleasing, rescuing or flattering others.
Controller - Anxiety based need to take charge and control situations and people's actions. High anxiety and impatience when that is not possible.
